FIVE REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME AN AGS MEMBER:
Common Questions and ConcernsWhen and Where are meetings held?
AGS General Meeting times are posted on the Home Page. Join our mailing list to be informed of the next Chapter Meeting. Why should I join AGS? As an AGS member, you will be exposed to an array of things. You'll become a part of a community filled with hard-working, community-oriented and determined people, and have a special college experience as you participate in AGS-sponsored events and attend yearly conventions. You will also become eligible for our AGS scholarships and receive one of two AGS transcript recognitions that will help you stand out in your transfer application process. Details about the two types of recognitions are located in the Membership page. Do I have to be in the honors program to be a member? Although we are also considered an "honor society", you do not need to be in the CCSF Honors Program to be a part of Alpha Gamma Sigma. Although, we do encourage our members to try to be in the program for it is a different and beneficial experience in comparison to regular classes. Often times, we have Mr. Sami Kudsi, the coordinator of the Honors Program, come and speak in one of our meetings, so be sure to keep your ears open for the date. Is AGS active all year-round? Our club is active during the Fall and Spring semesters. Club activities do not take place during the Summer. When is the deadline for the application and membership fee? Both are due at the end of the semester, typically a week prior to Finals Week. Check back on this website for exact deadlines. When are community service hours due? Service hours are due at the end of the semester. An email is sent out to remind all members to complete hours and turn the time sheet in by a certain date. Make sure you are on our mailing list to get this reminder, as well as other updates and details about events to keep yourself in the loop! What does it mean to have the AGS seal on your transcript? Having an AGS seal in your transcript means that you have not only spent your academic career working hard to get good grades, but it also means that you are community-oriented, having contributed a portion of your time and effort to improve your community. |
